Probably the most asked questions from our tenants, be cautious of the following if you want your appliances to work properly!
- Taiwan's standard voltage is 110V, and the power frequency is 60Hz.
- The voltage for heating and air conditioning units is often 220/240V, 60Hz.
- Wall outlets in Taiwan, similar to those in the USA, are mostly two-prong (type A) or three-prong (type B).
- If the wall outlet is a two-prong, one can use a three-prong adapter to use appliances brought from overseas.
- If you come from a country with a voltage of 220/240V and a frequency of 50Hz, some of your appliances may not work.
- Appliances that require 50Hz will need a frequency converter to change the power frequency to 60Hz in order to be used. However, frequency converters are generally expensive and hard to obtain.
- Before using your appliances, check the label to see if they are compatible with 60Hz.
- Small appliances such as mobile phones and laptops can usually operate on either 110V or 220/240V and at either 50/60Hz.
- These appliances can be plugged directly into a 220/240V outlet, a three-prong outlet, or used with a transformer (110V/240V), but be aware that some transformers may overheat.
- Transformers are not only easy to obtain and inexpensive, most can be directly plugged into a 110V two-prong wall outlet.
- Some appliances have dual voltage capability, and the required voltage setting can usually be found on the product's label or in its specifications.
