In Taiwan, most homes and AC units come with a catch—no heating! Why?
Winters here are pretty short, and Taipei’s temperatures hardly ever dip below freezing. But from December to March, things can get a little chilly when a cold front hits. So, what’s the usual solution? Either crank up an AC unit with a heating function or grab a portable heater. Fun fact: according to the Central Weather Bureau, Taipei’s average winter low from 1991 to 2020 was around 16.6°C (about 62°F). For many foreign renters, that’s barely sweater weather—definitely not “turn on the heater” territory!
